Profile on Mitt Romney

Mitt Romney was born in Detroit on March the twelfth, 1947. His father was the governor of Michigan, George Romney. Mitt Romney is a founder of an investment firm called Bain Capital. He tried to run for Massachusetts Senate, but he was unfortunately defeated by another candidate Edward Kennedy. He was also a member of the Salt Lake Olympic Games organizing committee. In the year 2003, he was elected as a governor of state of Massachusetts. He was also one of the candidates for Republican presidential nomination in the year of 2008. He lost to John McCain. Romney decided to run for the Republican presidential nomination again. He announced his decision in June 2011 and he is ready to run for the presidential nomination in the year 2012.

Education and Early Years

In his early years, Mitt Romney attended the well known Cranbrook School. In the year 1971, he obtained his undergraduate degree at the Brigham Young University. In 1975, he received an MBA as well as law degree at the prestigious Harvard Business School and Harvard Law School.

In 1969, he married Ann Davies and they have five sons. Mitt Romney is a religious man and he is a member of the Mormon Church.

Beginning of His Political Career

Mitt Romney started his career in business. First, he worked for the management consulting firm called Bain and Company. In 1984, he decided to open his own investment company Bain Capital.
He decided to try himself in political field in the year 1994. Although his run for the U.S Senate in Massachusetts was not successful, he continued his efforts.

Romney’s role in the Salt Lake Organizing Committee was very important he was a successful organizer of the 2002 Winter Olympics.

Romney wrote a book in 2004. This book was called Turnaround: Crisis, Leadership, and the Olympic Games.

Governor of Massachusetts

Romney’s success with the Olympic Games gave him popularity and positive points which enabled him to continue successful political career. In 2003, he was elected Massachusetts governor. Romney made many successful political moves and he oversaw the reduction three billion dollar deficit. He signed into law a health care reform program for residents of Massachusetts. This health program enabled nearly universal health care for all residents.

2012 U.S Presidential Campaign

Romney announced the official start of his 2012 Republican nomination presidential campaign in June, 2011. He is ready to take standard Republican positions on the economy and taxes. Many of Romney’s critics opposed him because of his position on some important issues, such as abortion and health care reform. He was against President Obama’s program for health care reform.

Romney will surely be one of the candidates with the biggest chances to win the Republican nomination. He is way ahead of his other Republican Candidate competitors. Many experts believe that Romney will get the nomination.

Romney’s strong family values and religious beliefs, as well his successful business and political career make him a perfect Republican candidate. He is a strong character with great political skills. We can surely expect an interesting U.S. Republican presidential campaign in 2012.
